Have you heard of shadow bans?
When posts are reported for going against the Instagram guidelines, Instagram will sometimes shadow ban a whole hashtag if a significant number of the repoted posts are using that hashtag.
This means that posts using this hashtag will be hidden and won’t show up in a search or on the discover page. If your posts are hidden, it can really affect your reach and organic growth.
It can be tough to navigate because some of the shadowbanned hashtags are not the ones you might usually expect – such as #BeautyBlogger and #ValentinesDay
You will need to avoid using these hashtags. Instagram does not publish a list of shadowbanned hashtags but Kicksta have a regularly updated A-Z list of shadowbanned hashtags on their blog so that’s a good place to check.
