Hands up if you use saved posts on Instagram!
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, on the bottom right corner of any Instagram post, there’s a book mark icon. If you see a post that you’d like to save to look at later on, simply click the bookmark and the post will be saved for you. Then, go to your profile, tap on the three lines in the top right, then scroll down and tap ‘saved’ to see a list of your saved posts.
You may well have been using saved posts for a long while, but one functionality that lots of people don’t use to it’s full advantage is collections. Using collections, you can save the posts into categories or folders that you create – Pinterest style!
To create a collection, go to your profile, then the three lines, scroll to ‘saved’ and then click on the plus sign on the top right. To save a post to a specific collection that’s already been created, simply tap and hold the bookmark icon on the bottom right of the content that you want to save and you’ll be asked which collection you’d like to save to.
So that’s how to use the collections and saved posts but is this funtionality important if you have a business Instagram?
The answer is YES! It’s been known for a while that Instagram are probably looking to remove public likes. With like totals being hidden from all but the account holder, the focus for the algorithm will be more on engagement, and lots of saves is an indication that your content resonates with your audience.
So, it looks like a new way to measure the success of a post will be how many people have saved it!
